Satu lagi pesaing berat dari iPad, kali ini datang dari Samsung, yaitu Samsung Galaxy Tab. Galaxy series memang dikenal sebagai lini smartphone Samsung yang menggunakan OS buatan Google, Android. Corby With Brains

Dulu, smartphones identik dengan hape high-end dengan harga selangit. Tapi tidak sekarang. Samsung telah mematahkan filosofi lama itu dengan memperkenalkan, Samsung i5500 Galaxy 5. The True iPad Rival

Rupanya RIM ikut gerah melihat kesuksesan Apple iPad di ranah tablet PC. Mungkin inilah yang membuat RIM ingin ikut meramaikan pasar tablet PC sekaligus menantang iPad dengan meluncurkan Blackberry Playbook™. Tablet PC berlayar sentuh kapasitif  7 inci ini menggunakan Blackberry Tablet OS yang terbaru. Dan Blackberry Playbook ini merupakan tablet pertama yang menggunakan CPU dual-core. Sudah tentu performanya tidak usah diragukan lagi. Apalagi dengan RAM 1GB, user tidak akan mengalami "out of memory".

Tidak sampai di situ saja. Playbook masih menawarkan berbagai kelebihannya dibandingkan iPad. Playbook sudah mendukung Flash 10.1 and HTML5 support, microHDMI, microUSB ports and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n support. Jelas lebih unggul daripada iPad yang tidak mendukung Flash. Dan juga RIM telah membekali Playbook dengan dua buah kamera. Kamera utama beresolusi 5MP dan kamera kedua untuk beresolusi 3MP. Sayangnya RIM belum menyematkan dukungan untuk 3G videocalling. Nokia is Back!

Nokia is back! Ya itu slogan yang tepat untuk Nokia yang sedang menghadapi gempuran dari berbagai rivalnya seperti Apple dan Google. Nokia melakukan berbagai upaya untuk menghadapi para pesaingnya itu. Pertama Nokia mennganti CEO (Chief Executive Officer) mereka, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo akan diganti oleh Stephen Elop. Lalu, Nokia juga mengenalkan 3 amunisi barunya untuk menhadapi gempuran Android dan iPhone.

Nokia E7

Hape ini akan menjadi flagship Nokia berikutnya setelah N97. E7 dibekali layar sentuh geser dengan mekanisme seperti N97 (tilt) seluas 4 inci. Dengan resolusi nHD dan teknologi AMOLED, membuat layar hape ini nyaman dilihat. Selain itu, layar E7 juga dibekali dengan teknologi ClearBack Technology. Nokia menjanjikan teknologi ini akan menghasilkn warna hitam yang lebih pekat, konsumsi daya yang rendah, dan sunlight legibility yang lebih baik.

Tidak hanya itu, E7 juga sudah dibekali dengan konektivitas high-end seperti 10.2Mbps HSDPA, 2Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS and Cell-ID positioning, dan USB On-The-Go. Walau masuk dalam jajaran E-Series yang notabene hape bisnis, hape ini sarat dengan fitur multimedia. Nokia C7

Hape ini patut disebut fashion phone. Dengan body stainless steel, layar sentuh lebar, dan ketebalan hanya 10,5 mm, menjadikan Nokia C7 mempunyai tampilan mewah nan simpel dn juga glamour. Tidak hanya dari sisi tampilan, C7 juga mempunyai konektivitas yang sangat lengkap, persis dengan E7, kecuali utnuk HDMI-port nya.

Nokia C7 juga dipercaya sebagai salah satu jagoan mereka yang memakai sistem operasi Smbian^3. Walaupun layarnya "hanya" 3,2 inci, sudah mendukung capasitive dan Nokia ClearBlack Display. Nokia C6-01

Hape ini merupakan kembaran C6 yang sudah terlebih dahulu beredar di pasaran. Bedanya, "adik"nya ini tidak memiliki keyboard QWERTY seperti sang "kakak". Lalu C6-01 juga sudah mengusung Symbian^3, tidak seperti C6 yang masih mengusung Symbian 9.4 5th edition. Fitur-fitur yang dimiliki hape ini persis dengan Nokia C7. Hanya saja, layar nya kembali disunat menjadi 3,2 inci.

Setelah Apple mengumumkan iPhone 4, tak lama kemudian iOS 4, yang merupakan sistem operasi iPhone 4 diluncurkan kepada publik. Fit Into The Palm of Your Hand

Tidak suka dengan SE XPERIA X10 dengan layar 4 inci yang terlalu besar?? Sony Ericsson telah memberikan jawaban dengan memperkenalkan X10 Mini dengan layar 2,6 inci. Tapi layar 2,6 inci terlalu kecil untuk ukuran layar sentuh menurut para pengamat hape. Maka SE kembali memberikan alternatif dengan meluncurkan Sony Ericsson Shakira yang dikenal dengan nama X8. SE X8 ini mengusung layar sentuh kapasitif dengan diagonal 3 inci dan resolusi HVGA. X8 ukurannya sangat pas dalam genggaman, tidak terlalu kecil seperti X10 Mini dan juga tidak terlalu besar seperti X10.

Sayangnya kameranya kembali mengalami penurunan menjadi 3 Megapiksel, dari X10 : 8 Megapiksel dan X10 mini : 5 Megapiksel. Fitur lainnya masih tetap sama seperti pendahulunya. Seperti OS yang dipakai masih Android 1.6 (codenamed : Doughnut). Padahal dengan prosesor 600 MHz, X8 masih mampu menjalankan OS Android 2.2 Eclair seperti HTC Hero. Konektivitas hape ini sudah sangat lengkap dengan adanya dukungan HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, dan EDGE.

Finally, The Old-Fashioned Blackberry OS Got Updated

Akhirnya Blackberry merilis update untuk Blackberry OS nya yang sudah tampak kuno dan ketinggalan jaman itu. Blackberry OS 6 ini membawa sejumlah fitu baru sebut saja homescreen baru, pop-ups menus screen, ehek transisi (fluid transitions), HTML 5 based-on browser, support tab untuk browser layaknya browser komputer, re-skinned media player, multi-touch (pinch-zooming), dll. Dan ini ada video advertising Blackberry OS 6 dari RIM.
